Jurnal Madania: Jurnal Hukum Pidana dan Ketatanegaraan Islam was initially established as a platform for the academic community of the Faculty of Sharia, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, to intensify the organized and periodic publication of scholarly works—the inaugural edition of Jurnal Madania: Jurnal Hukum Pidana dan Ketatanegaraan Islam was published in 2019. Over the course of several years, the management of this journal was not optimally organized, resulting in several issues being published with inconsistencies in both managerial aspects and publication guidelines.
Starting from Volume 15 Number 2 of 2025, Jurnal Madania: Jurnal Hukum Pidana dan Ketatanegaraan Islam officially moved to the UIN Imam Bonjol Padang server. All journal management processes, from manuscript submission, peer review, editing, publication, to article access, are now fully conducted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform managed by UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This migration was undertaken to enhance system stability, data security, and the quality of scientific publication services, making them more professional and sustainable. Meanwhile, the version of Jurnal Madania: Jurnal Hukum Pidana dan Ketatanegaraan Islam still available on the old server will remain active only until the end of 2025 and will subsequently be deactivated. Therefore, authors, peer reviewers, and readers are expected to access and submit manuscripts through the new server, as well as update citation links and article references to the OJS address of UIN Imam Bonjol Padang.
In line with this policy, the Editorial Board of Jurnal Madania has also made adjustments to the article writing template, effective as of Volume 16 Number 1 of 2026. This template change is based on several rational considerations, namely: (1) standardization and internationalization of publication formats to align with globally reputable scholarly journal management, (2) optimization of integration with the OJS system for efficient submission, conversion, and electronic editing processes, (3) adherence to the APA 7th edition citation style to enhance consistency and academic credibility, and (4) improvement of the visual quality and substance of articles through more detailed and structured writing guidelines. Consequently, all manuscripts submitted starting from Volume 16 Number 1 of 2026 are mandatorily required to use the latest template provided on the Jurnal Madania OJS website. This transformative step is part of the editorial board's commitment to strengthening an integrated, sustainable, and professionally managed scholarly publication governance under the auspices of UIN Imam Bonjol Padang.
